This summer, 600 Gogoro Smartscooters will be available in Paris as part of the Coup Scooter Sharing Service. You’ll be able to explore the City of Love on an electric scooter, which will set you back €3 for 30 minutes or €20 for the entire day. Not a bad deal!
What’s great about it is that you don’t need a motorcycle license to ride the scooter, but you do need a valid Class B driver’s license. With the help of the app for mobile devices (Android and iOS), you’ll be able to quickly locate the scooter closest to you and reserve it with a few taps. They will be available in select central Paris districts.
Coup, which is a subsidiary of Bosch, has launched its e-scooter sharing service in Berlin back in August 2016. Only 200 Gogoro Smartscooters were available at first, but the number quickly grew to 1,000 thanks to the high demand.
Mat Schubert, the CEO of Coup, said that the success they have achieved in Berlin motivates them to expand the service to other European cities. If things go according to plan in Paris, we just might see the electric scooters make their way to other European capitals in the future.
The Gogoro Smartscooter was announced in 2015 and has a top speed of 95 km/h. It can go from 0 to 50 km/h in 4.2 seconds and has a range of up to 100 kilometers.
