elon musk master plan 2 Steve Jurvetson

First Round Capital, a well-known New York-based VC firm, has recently conducted a survey among 700 founders of technology companies. Questions ranged from the topic of their office’s lease cost to the relationships between co-founders. But the most interesting question of them all might have been “Which current tech leader do you admire the most?”

As you can imagine, quite a few names came up — 125 to be exact. But even so, 23 percent of respondents wrote down the same one. And that name is Elon Musk. The South African-born entrepreneur, best known as the founder of the EV manufacturing company Tesla, is, therefore, the most admirable tech leader among tech entrepreneurs.

The respondents did not specify the exact reasons for their decision, but nevertheless, we can see why they look up to Musk. In addition to founding Tesla, which has recently posted the second profitable quarter in its history, Musk was also one of the founders of Paypal, the popular online payment method.

He also plans to colonize the red planet – Mars – and hopes to achieve this big dream of his by 2024. Say what you will about him, Musk really is a great innovator and is one of those rare people who are really trying to change the world for the better.

Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and Blue Origin, came in second, with 10 percent of votes. The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, took home the bronze medal as the third most respected tech leader (6%), followed by Apple’s Steve Jobs on the fourth place (5%).

What about you guys? Which tech leaders do you find the most inspiring? Is it Musk, or someone else? As always, do let us know in the comment section below.
