You may have heard a thing or two about Elon Musk’s The Boring Company. Now he wants you to help him name his innovative tunneling machine.

Why Elon Musk isn’t joking about the Tunnel Boring Company

Not that kind of boring

The last adjective I’d use to describe Elon Musk’s The Boring Company is boring – not in the dull sense anyway. We are talking about boring as in digging here. The man behind Tesla and SpaceX recently unveiled his radical plan to revolutionize the way we travel via our cars: The Boring Company’s concept would essentially create underground roads that are equipped with maglev technology.

Each car is brought down into the underground network on an autonomous platform, which once underground, can travel at speeds of up to 124 mph or 200 km/h. What’s ingenious about it is that each vehicle is transported in a sled, merging into and exiting out of lanes seamlessly thanks to computer-controlled data.

Well, to make this happen, we need tunnels, and that’s exactly where you come in.

Elon Musk wants ideas for a name

Elon Musk tweeted two days ago, saying that he’s thinking about a name for The Boring Company’s first tunneling machine. Needless to say, a myriad of followers responded to chime in, their ideas ranging from Borat and Dig Dug to William Burroughs. Though he seemed keen on “Ultimate Boring Machine, the Second,” he later tweeted, “Kinda like Snoop Dug.”

That’s my personal favorite among the ones that have been thrown out there, but it’s not too late to let him know if you have a better suggestion!
